BUTTONS COUTURE

I always wondered where Praiz got his remarkable tunics from….until he
tweeted the link to a site and there I found Remi Buttons. Remilekun
Manoela Carolino Owadokun
started Buttons Couture officially in 2009, when she registered the company. Before
then, she was just sketching for the fun of it.
“The name fell from Heaven oh, I kept looking for names.. it took a week and
from then It determined the direction my label was going. When I started
initially, I used so much buttons to adorn my clothes, I still have a few
signature pieces like that but now i am focusing more on the Logo. When people
see my clothes I want them to know that great things are still possible in the
fashion world in terms of design and execution. My tailors told me most of my
designs were unachieveable. But I forgot to tell him that, impossible left my
dictionary long ago. I never want a situation where people see my clothes and
they are not impressed and I don’t want a situation where people see my clothes
and its a poor immitation of someone elses work.
If you look at my 2010 collection on my website, you’ll see a lot of my works were
adorned loads of Buttons. So when you see my clothes.. The first thing that comes to
mind is Buttons. In 2011, we focused more on the Logo thou few pieces still had
plenty Buttons. In 2010, I tried to get the brand obvious, in 2011 I tried to make
the Logo recognisable and in 2012 I plan to expand the Buttons Brand.”
Her inspiration comes from buttons and fabrics. She can design for anyone who
can afford her. She doesn’t discriminate based on status or anything like
that. Her clients however are mostly celebrities entertainers and the likes.
Due to the fact that her clothes are very flashy and sometimes over the top.
Entertainers fit, because they love to stand out, they want to make a good
appearance and they want to be. noticed.
