With the help of designers like Chanel and Ralph Lauren, Wunmi found her love for fashion growing in 2006. She noticed that she mostly wears the same thing and desired to start her own line. She however had to put fashion on hold because she couldn’t manage fashion and school. Adewunmi Omolola started a Scissors and Tapes Couture in October 2011. She wanted her designs to be different from everything we have seen anywhere…..she wanted something edgy and unique. She got the concept of mixing and matching from then on. ‘i started experimenting with different materials and designs. Fusing rare colours together as well..i picked up a tee shirt and mixed with embroidery, satin and Ankara, jeans and Ankara…..just mixtures that are unique and classy and not the regular outfits that most young fashion designers are making these days.’
She makes all types of clothes. Her major aim is to satisfy the majority of people that come to her. Her clothes range from corporate shirts, casual shirts, embroidered tees, blazers, embroidered LBD’s suits to urban attire wears for people of all ages, class and style.
She has also delved into the shoe industry recently. She makes bespoke unique shoes for men as well as for women. Some she makes mixing African print with either denim, leather, suede and sometimes sequence.
‘It hasn’t been easy I must confess because I had no guidance but with the help of God and support from family and friends it’s been a wonderful experience so far’.
